Giddi is a product rating engine designed to help consumers make confident purchasing decisions quickly. Giddi is unique in its product rating method, which seeks to identify the best products based on a number of components such as price, reviews, age and popularity. Other product research websites to date have focused almost entirely on reviews. Giddi.com has ratings to offer on more than 600,000 products across over 250 categories. Each product in the Giddi Engine is assigned a rating between zero and 100. Product information is updated as pricing and other review components change. The rating value is displayed with supplemental information, including reviews and the best prices from stores across the Web. Giddi generates its product ratings with a calculation that is unique to each product category. A component such as its original release date, for example, is given more weight in the overall calculation for consumer electronics products than it is for products in a category like apparel. Thus, a laptop that was released five years ago might earn a low Giddi Rating, but a pair of sunglasses from the same year might still capture the top rating in its category. Giddi has collected data, including over 1.6 million reviews, from eCommerce and media sources to fuel its rating engine. Giddi crawls the Web like a search engine and uses the application programming interface (API) services of Amazon.com and Shopping.com to collect much of its data. Giddi also offers product search, but unlike price comparison sites, the order of product results is independent of merchant bid prices.
